A bit about me..
Hi there! Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to find out some more about me and my business.
I’m Hayley and I live in Bristol with my Husband Graham and my son Oliver who is 18 months.
I started upcycling in 2020 for two reasons - I had just lost all of my work in my previous career due to the pandemic and upcycling helped me to feel calm, grounded and present. It helped me a lot during a tricky time. The items that I worked on when I first started out were quite varied in terms of furniture type and design. If you’ve seen some of my previous work then you’ll know it included pieces such as lime coloured leafy bedside tables, flamingo deckchairs and soft pink rattan chairs. What all my work did have in common though was colour. I love working with colour and creating bold and striking finishes.
When I went on maternity leave with Oliver in 2022, I spent many a day (and of course still do now!), sat amongst various colourful toys and children’s designs which really grabbed my attention. I found myself feeling more inspired than I possibly ever had with my work and this urge to start designing for children. Oliver inspires me so much too. His version of the word watermelon is one of his favourite things to say at the moment, and when he does, I sit there creating watermelon designs in my head that I could paint onto little stools and tables. My product range now is much more limited to include small tables and stools, which are easy to ship and store. Building my business back up is a slow burner because I have to juggle it with being a mum, but I love how my two worlds of work and parenthood have this new meaning and connection now.
